Chelsea FC Transfer Rumours: Neymar Doesn't Want To Come To Chelsea, Says Agent

If you've been following the Neymar situation at all closely you'll recall that whenever Neymar makes noises about wanting to move to England, his agent is along swiftly to rubbish the whole idea and tell us that Neymar wants to stay at Santos for the rest of his life and that how dare the British make such speculative remarks and by the way give us back the Falklands.

Maybe I got Wagner Ribeiro confused with Julio Grondona on that last bit. Whatever. Anyway, since there's been another round of Neymar speculation, it should come as no surprise that Ribeiro has decided to shut it down.

This is all speculation from Britain. It is absurd. He does not want to, and will not, leave Santos. He is happy and focused on the Copa Libertadores.

Of course he will arouse interest, that is just natural because of his performances on the field — but I guarantee you there is no proposal for him. You have to pay £40m for him, yet Santos have to want to sell and now Santos do not want to.

Agents' words often mean nothing at all, and that's what I'd read into here. It's in Ribeiro's (and Neymar's) best interests that the 19-year-old isn't seen as too keen to make a move to England, because that would depress his transfer value and would make everyone less money. This whole saga seems to me like Neymar's simply saying whatever he feels like and a rather resigned agent is sweeping up the mess behind him, which is more funny than worrying.

For me, all signs are still pointing towards Neymar being at Stamford Bridge by the end of summer. I do think, however, that the transfer will be long and painful, much like Ramires' and David Luiz's. Oh well - we'll have other toys to play with in the interim.
