Around SBN: The Eternal Unpredictability of the 2011-12 Boston Celtics

Apparently AC Milan is trying to unsettle The Bison with a rumored bid of 18m (+a player or two).

Sounds ridiculous, no?

But with McEachran coming into age as Lampard's replacement, Mikel being the clear favorite for the holding role, and Ramires proving that he can be a force to reckon with...and Essien often struggling for form, especially with his multitude of injuries, could this be a move that makes (business) sense somewhere along the line?

The 28 year old Essien is under contract until 2015, having signed a multi-year extension just last summer.

never

We don’t need the money, and he is 10x better than Mikel. There was a week or two at the start of the season when Essien was playing better than anyone in England. The team is never the same when he is missing. i’d keep him until he can’t run anymore

I presume you didn't watch Chelsea in the 2011 calendar year?

Essien has been a shadow of his former self.

Mikel was dropped for apparently no particular reason (other than silly formation changes & tactical adventures) and we suffered for it.

I love Essien, but I don’t consider him untouchable…especially not for the right price (18-20m+).

I agree that this season he has been a shadow of his former self

But IF he can regain his form,I think, it would be stupid to sell him. When he is at his top form he can be one of the best players in the world. I love him and Im rooting for him to regain everything he has lost and become a force again in midfield.

Also this is my first post on this site, I’m so glad I found it, I’m a huge Chelsea fan. Go Blues!!

Enjoy your stay, may it be a long one!

I think we all love Essien, thanks to his previous badassery…but he’s clearly been on a downward spiral the last couple seasons…

Thank yall for the welcome!

I agree that he has been on a downward spiral, but I’m personally hoping its just because he hasnt fully regained everything he had pre all those injuries. I’m hoping he can work through this slump and come back strong. But maybe he is on a permanent downward spiral, but I’m not going to completely write him off yet.
