England Callups Aplenty For Chelsea Players
With some key international games coming up this summer it's not exactly vacation time for some of Chelsea's stars or their lesser-known players. On June 4th, England's senior side face Switzerland at Wembley in a Euro 2012 qualifying match that, if won, should probably see England in prime position to qualify from the group, while the U-21 team (minus Jack Wilshere and Andy Carroll) are looking to do well in the 2011 U-21 European Championships, where everyone will lose to Spain.
For the seniors, it'll be the usual Chelsea suspects: John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole (who all played on Sunday for a reason known only to now ex-Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti). No rest for the wicked, eh? It would probably have been nice to give that group another week off, but we didn't because we absolutely had to run a full-strength side out to lose a meaningless game at Goodison Park.
The U-21s feature a number of interesting players and one notable omission. In are Danny Sturridge, Ryan Bertrand, Michael Mancienne and Jack Cork. Not in is Josh McEachran, but with England featuring a midfield that includes both Jordan Henderson and Jack Rodwell it's not too much of a surprise that Josh can't find his way into the squad just yet. He's got plenty of time, though.
If nothing else, the U-21 tournament will be a good time to watch the continued progress of Danny Sturridge as he turns himself into a Premier League regular. He should be a first-choice player for the team (as should Bertrand when Keiran Gibbs breaks), pairing up with Manchester United's Danny Welbeck. The others might be a little tricky to get a read on, but they should pop up every now and then.

I'm shocked McEachran is not involved with the U-21's!
When he has played he looks like the best midfielder out there! I think he has been called up to the U-20’s world cup, where most of the best players in the world cut their teeth!!!
I love McEachran as much as anyone, and think he has all the talent to be a legend
But to Pearce et al, he’ll have to prove it. He hasn’t had the chance.

He played really well when he represented the U-21's,
and Albrighton remarked after a couple of games that he was the best young player he has ever seen! If Connor Wickham gets a call up, I can’t see why it is so far-fetched for McEachran!
I guess warming the bench, compared to starting every game at the U-20’s, is not ideal for an 18 year old player.
Connor Wickham got the call because he started 27 games for Ipswich
Josh needs to be playing regular football to get a shout.
