Following Chelsea's 1-0 loss against newly-promoted Queens Park Rangers, Andre Villas-Boas got really rather angry at Chris Foy (he wasn't the only one). The manager pointed out that the referee had been incredibly inconsistent with his decisions and that said decisions cost Chelsea a win, both of which are probably true statements. However, managers aren't allowed to say that sort of thing in press conferences and as a result the FA hit him with an improper conduct charge.

Now the punishment has come down:

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has today been fined £12,000 by The FA and warned as to his future conduct after being charged in respect of media comments which were found by an Independent Regulatory Commission to have constituted improper conduct.

The comments were made after Chelsea's away fixture at Queens Park Rangers on 23 October 2011. Villas-Boas had denied the charge and requested a non-personal hearing.

Chelsea are currently undecided on whether to appeal or not (the case seems fairly open and shut to me, for the nothing that's worth). The fine's a drop in the bucket*, and there isn't a touchline ban, so this probably went about as well as it could have.

*Although I hope that I personally am never fined £12,000.
