Remember how Andre Villas-Boas mentioned that Chelsea were in contract talks with Salomon Kalou and 80% of Chelsea fans got grumpy about it? Well, if you're in that 80% it's time to get even grumpier: Kalou totally wants one too, claiming his long term future could be with the club.
Oh, and he wants to play more too:
That's what every player wants to have, game time. Because if you're not playing every weekend, how are you going to improve yourself? So it's very important to play to improve and to push yourself to the limit. That's what I'm looking for. We're still talking [about the contract] and hopefully the club is putting itself in a good position and me myself as well. I think we're going to agree on something good.
I want to stay, I want to be here. I like Chelsea. I've had a fantastic five seasons here and won some prizes. Chelsea are looking forward to the future and I'm still a young player and I think my future can be here.

The media may be privy to more quotes than I've got in front of me, but the fact that they're painting this as Kalou requiring a guarantee of more playing time seems a little bit off to me. This is presented as Kalou wanting to play more (as I'd hope every Chelsea player would) and then him talking about an extension. The two don't seem obviously connected.
At any rate, if Kalou demands more playing time in exchange for a new contract, I'd probably suggest that he goes somewhere where he's not obviously the third-choice (or lower) in any of the forward positions. I have a much higher opinion of Kalou's ability than most - I think he is, at worst, an average Premier League striker - but he's not going to ever get a guarantee of regularly starting time with the amount of talent on Chelsea's squad.
But, of course, it doesn't really appear that he's asking for one.
