Starting off with Armenia vs. Ireland...

it’s a decent first half… Wouldn’t say it was an easy three points for the Irish.

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 4:41 PM BST reply actions

Doyle’s chance just now was the story of the first half… They could easily be in front, but Armenia have held their own here…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:04 PM BST up reply actions

Yeah, which isn’t what you need against a team of lower quality away from home…

WOW! How didn’t Armenia score there!?

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:15 PM BST up reply actions

Wow

How did Armenia not score there

by Graham MacAree on Sep 3, 2010 5:15 PM BST reply actions

Great minds think alike!

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:17 PM BST up reply actions

Ireland are all over the shop in the back...

Doyle is the only player that looks like he can do something useful…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:28 PM BST reply actions

Ireland need to continue with a more direct approach...

the short passing isn’t working since the midfield don’t take more than three touches, and it seems to confuse the Armenian defence every time a long ball is played…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:41 PM BST reply actions

Good result for Ireland

Made it hard for themselves though, didn’t they?

by Graham MacAree on Sep 3, 2010 5:52 PM BST up reply actions

Yes, and we’ll now see the difference between Wales and Ireland… Both nations make it hard for themselves, but Ireland can grind out results, while Wales just faulter every time. I see Wales finishing bottom of their group…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:56 PM BST up reply actions

This is Andorra’s chance to shine! Much improved side over the years…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:53 PM BST up reply actions

Moldova vs. Finland takes my fancy for now...

Turkey are 2 up at Kazakhstan, while Russie have probably done their business for the night with an early goal at Andorra…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 5:58 PM BST reply actions

Wow

Straight red for Hyppia

by Graham MacAree on Sep 3, 2010 6:05 PM BST reply actions

Out of nowhere too…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:06 PM BST up reply actions

The pitch is awful. The game is brilliant.

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:08 PM BST up reply actions

Same here, until Montenegro vs. Wales starts…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:12 PM BST up reply actions

Very controversial too… Jovanovic gets tackled in the box, goes to ground, and passes the ball with his fist to Danko Lazovic who slots the ball into the net… Cheeky!

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:15 PM BST up reply actions

2-0 Serbia

This is like watching an international team play against a high school side

by Graham MacAree on Sep 3, 2010 6:18 PM BST reply actions

Some nice football there though from the Faroes…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:20 PM BST up reply actions

I agree, I will be shocked if/when Faroe grabs a point.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 6:29 PM BST up reply actions

Yeah, I meant that for all qualifying matches.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 6:31 PM BST up reply actions

I don’t understand why smaller teams always set up with a 4-4-1-1, and only applying pressure around their box… At least have a go, spring a surprise or two, no?

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:32 PM BST up reply actions

2-3-5

Might lose 11-2, but hey two goals

by Graham MacAree on Sep 3, 2010 6:33 PM BST up reply actions

They could start better than damage limitation formation. Luxembourg altered against Switzerland, and they got a 2-1 win in the last campaign.

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:40 PM BST up reply actions

Also I heard they could have got him for less than a million a year ago!
Sun journalist Steve Brenner on Twitter: “New Man Utd signing Bebe sensational for Portugal U21s so far. Sensationally ineffective.”

by Eyeball Kid on Sep 3, 2010 6:33 PM BST reply actions

I read they could have gotten him for free before that.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 6:35 PM BST up reply actions

Glad to see Nihat still playing. Loved watching Turkey and Russia play in 2008.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 6:39 PM BST up reply actions

ZM making some good points about Portugal on twitter. Anyone think Cyrpus grabs a point at home (Portugal w/out Ronaldo, Portugal has tendency to draw against European teams).

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 6:45 PM BST reply actions

I doubt it too.

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:47 PM BST up reply actions

Kazakhstan 0-3 Turkey [FT]

Turan 24’, Altintop 26’, Nihat 76’;

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:52 PM BST reply actions

Yep

Although Finland have been playing with ten men for a while

by Eyeball Kid on Sep 3, 2010 6:57 PM BST up reply actions

Not a massive surprise, but yeah, sort of unexpected… Finland are down to 10-men, and are not that good a side anymore in my opinion.

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 6:57 PM BST up reply actions

Goal for Montenegro...

Vucinic strikes an impressive goal…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 7:01 PM BST reply actions

Not a good start for my sleeper Wales.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 7:02 PM BST up reply actions

Not at all… thoroughly outplayed so far.

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 7:03 PM BST up reply actions

With Bellamy, Bale, etc. I thought they could surprise. Does not look good so far.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 7:06 PM BST up reply actions

I had a feeling that Andorra had a sniff in this one, which basically means no more than four conceded…

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 7:28 PM BST up reply actions

Dzeko with a goal…he’s a player on my watch list.

by JoshuaR on Sep 3, 2010 7:42 PM BST reply actions

Faroe Islands 0-3 Serbia [FT]

Lazovic 14’, Stankovic 18’, Zigic 90’;

by Dafs on Sep 3, 2010 7:50 PM BST reply actions

Hah!

Greece are one of my absolute least favourite teams.
