Joey couldn't get a game for Chelsea. He couldn't get a game for England. He has appeared to be on the cusp of the cut since the provisional 30-man squad for South Africa was released.
But, following a couple of solid outings for the national team, Cole has thrust himself back into Don Fabio's head. His impressive shift during the second half of the Lions' grotesque 2-1 win against Japan on Sunday might have earned himself a ticket.
